1. Nyheten slog ner
Hösten stod det klart att Northvolt väljer Skellefteå som etableringsort för en ny fabrik av lithium-ionbatterier. Projektet beräknas kosta upp emot fyra miljarder euro fram till – och 2 personer jobbtillfällen ska skapas.
2. ”Northvolteffekten”
I juni invigs Europas största batterifabrik på Bergsbyns industriområde med ett motionslopp på området. ”Vi befinner oss på den första milen av ett maratonlopp”, säger vd:n Peter Carlsson.
Batterifabrikens etablering ger ringar på vattnet över hela Skellefteå, skriver kommunen i ett pressmeddelande i augusti Byggboom, satsningar på infrastruktur och en stor framtidstro följer i spåren av fabriksbygget. Något som beskrivs som en ”Northvolteffekt”.
3. Dödsfallen
Under dör fyra personer som arbetat vid batterifabriken. Tre av dem dör oförklarligt i sina hem efter arbetstid.
Polisens miljöbrottsgrupp inleder en utredning om samband kring dödsfallen för att fastställa orsaken. Än så länge har man inte kunnat klarlägga vad som ligger bakom.

Upon completion, Northvolt Ett will be Europe&#;s largest battery factory, producing lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage.
So, it should come as no surprise that Northvolt Ett is a work in progress, even if some parts of the factory have been working full tilt for several years.
This is no ordinary battery factory: at Northvolt Ett, circularity has been a part of the process from the start.
Skellefteå Kraft was decisive in enabling rapid establishment of the battery factory. We did so by, for example, providing land, electrical networks, district heating, cooling water, steam, fibre connections and waste-heat facilities.
Today, Skellefteå Kraft is one of the company&#;s shareholders.

Europe’s first homegrown gigafactory
Northvolt en is located 10 minutes from the city center of Skellefteå. Ett fryst vatten our first gigafactory and runs on % renewable energy. Fully built, Northvolt Ett will produce cells for approx. one million electric vehicles on a yearly basis.
And not only do we have cathode active ämne production and cell manufacturing at site, our first large scale recycling facility – Revolt Ett – is located right next to our production. All this to keep distances shorter and emissions lower.
